Blue Jay, a budding chain of budget and comfortable backpacker hostel stays, set up in July 2018 in the Rishikesh region of India with the determination to reinvent the idea of backpacker hostels. Our hostel has been named after a native North American bird, Blue Jay, which is a free-spirited migratory bird that loves to hop and explore the world just like us and our travellers.

Laxman Jhula is 800 meters away, the International Patanjali Yoga Foundation is 300 meters away and Ram Jhula is 2.3 km away, while Triveni Ghat is 5 km from the hostel. The nearest airport is Dehradun, 22.6 km from the hostel.

We are currently located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rishikesh, in a quiet and serene neighbourhood. With easy access to major tourist attractions, supermarkets, ATMs, medical facilities, our location, Tapovan is the centre of exotic cafes/restaurants, Yoga schools and ashrams in Rishikesh.

Each part of our hostel from our lobby, common area, floors, cafe and terrace has an individual meaning. Spacious yet cosy common areas armed with multiple amenities, hangout lobbies on each floor with beautiful street view, common washrooms on each floor, rooftop café and a terrace with a breath-taking 360-degree view of the town. Rooms and dormitories are impeccably designed with bunk beds and double beds, comfortable mattresses, sheets, clean blankets, hot shower, wardrobes etc. There is air conditioning in all rooms with power backup at all times in the property. The building itself is a modern and durable structure.
There’s a 24/7 reception, TV in all private rooms, CCTV camera and a lift that makes all our floors easily accessible.

Café the Nest is the cherry on top of our hostel. Our rooftop cafe has a breath-taking panoramic view of the Himalayas. We serve both Indian and continental cuisine, vegan options, and add a personal touch to your food by customizing it as per your diet. You can enjoy family dinners, live music sessions and other games and activities while having tea or stuffing yourself with a paratha.
