Ganga is one of the sacred rivers and the third largest in the world. The river carries the transcendental energy of the Himalayas to the plains. According to ancient Hindu mythology, the quality of River Ganga represents motherhood.
Ganga Aarti is a spectacular fire ceremony that takes place in Rishikesh at the banks of River Ganga. It is one of the most prominent ritual practices that takes place in India. The belief around performing this ritual every evening is to offer prayers to the holy Ganga Maa and worshipping its motherhood, the combined history and mythology of which imparts a unique meaning to Ganga Aarti performed to the chants of Vedic hymns.
